Okay, here's what I know. The entire processor is only slightly longer than a AAA battery or approximately the size of an iPod shuffle. It is a completely new style of implant. It is not a behind the ear processor. You can wear it anywhere; you can pin it to your shoulder or even pin it to a hair barrett. There is no information on a rechargeable option. It will be submitted to the FDA within a month or so. That's about all I have. They're trying to keep it mostly under wraps. Brochure follows:

Is this a body worn CI? If so, where do they place the processor? Exactly how big is it? Do you have an idea?

WOW im intrigued!! We dont have AB here in australia, but id be interested to find out more about this.
This is exciting for all AB users. Does it mean that we can wear Neptune in the shower? That would be wonderful.
reminds me of http://www.cochlear.com/sea/sprint . You can connect directly to the headpiece without the BTE but you'll have to wear a label microphone with it. If they did add the microphone to the bodyworn processor, it would work just like that, but without the waterproof features.
Just to let you know, cochlear call this headset (where you don't have to wear BTE microphone) as "Sport cable"
It's still a hassle though. The clipon make sense as it can fall off, but that doesn't mean the headpiece won't fall off or get in the way.
the swim cap method would be better because the child don't have to worry about the wiring or anything.
One more thing, I would LOVE to just wear a magnet piece and nothing else. even if it means it could be thicker.
I didn't know the Neptune was being submitted to the FDA so soon... they haven't re-approved the internal implant yet as far as I know. Huh. interesting!
Interesting. I'd still rather have a BTE. I hear that Cochlear might be coming out with something too.
