Off we go!!!

We are leaving for St. Louis tonight (well, actually tomorrow at 4am). I'm excited but also terrified! I think this is going to be a wonderful opprotunity for Miss Kat to work with some of the premier professionals in the field of deaf education.

$90,000 a year my ass.....

Miss Kat will bridge the gap- regardless of family income. I think the dedication of the family (and supportive network of resources) makes the difference for kids!

Have a wonderful trip to St. Louis. Blog about your experience there!! We leave for Los Angeles in 3 weeks, and I am so excited!

My observation is that all kids, and Deaf kids especially, do far better when they have constant, full-time interaction with at least 1 and preferably 2 (one female role model and one male role model) adult parents. Visiting in schools it is obvious that many kids are growing up with *no* adult interaction/supervision, no matter how many "adults" live in the household - sad to say.

I suspect that family income is an easier marker for researchers who do not have access to the families to observe or who are just looking for an easier way to generate data.
